Vintage Drexel Declaration Gentleman’s Chest

$1,295.00

This striking gentleman’s chest from the iconic Drexel Declaration line blends timeless design with smart functionality. Designed by Kipp Stewart and Stewart MacDougall in the 1960s, this piece features rich walnut woodgrain, clean lines, and signature white porcelain pulls.

Originally configured with interior drawers and an adjustable shelf, this piece came to us incomplete, so we got creative. The left cabinet had missing drawers, and the shelf on the right was long gone. Rather than trying to recreate something that wasn’t there, we reimagined the interior for modern use. The right side houses a hidden vanity drawer with a lift-top mirror and divided compartments, perfect for jewelry or keepsakes. Below that, an open cabinet space provides flexible storage. The left cabinet remains open as well, great for baskets, folded linens, or even shoes.

Four lower drawers provide ample storage and glide smoothly. Dovetail joinery, tapered legs, and that warm walnut finish make this a standout in any bedroom or dressing space.

Dimensions:
Width: 42 in.
Depth: 20 in.
Height: 47 in.

Condition:
Fully restored and in beautiful vintage condition. Minor wear consistent with age and use. The modifications were thoughtfully done to complement the original style and provide added function.

Important: Due to its size & weight, shipping/delivery of this product includes a “Large Item” fee. Learn more.

Good to know:

When it comes to refinished vintage furnishings, know that our restorations strive to bring new life to each piece, however there may be slight imperfections or signs of wear that add to the character of the piece. Why Own Original MCM Pieces?

Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design emerged in the 1950s, spanning architecture, decor, and furniture. Iconic figures like Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames, and Knoll defined this timeless movement. While today’s retailers produce replicas, they often lack the durability and elegance of original MCM pieces, which are built to last decades. Authentic Mid-Century furniture, when well-cared-for or expertly restored, becomes an heirloom. A piece of history to be enjoyed for generations. Choose our collection to invest in fine furniture with enduring quality and style, not disposable items.
